The Hermitage 

The Hermitage is non-profit organization that will offer a variety of retreat services in a welcoming, hospitable, and non-clinical atmosphere for people to come and unwind.


The Hermitage is a revered historic site that is nestled in the woods of the Wissahickon in our very own Fairmount Park.


The services we will offer are designed to help mental health professionals manage stress, prevent burnout, and improve their overall well-being. 


Imagine if you were feeling burnt out at work and you were able to come to the Hermitage for the day, or a few days- you might take a nature walk, an afternoon yoga class and and enjoy a home cooked meal and an evening on the porch. 


We will be creating a non-clinical space to care for the caretakers. 

95% of mental health and human service professionals feel a significant level of burnout in their lives.

There is an extremely high turnover rate for community mental health professionals. 

-Professionals are leaving the field

-Professionals who stay in the field face increased pressure due to lack of support

-People in need of treatment are going without care

Around the city of Philadelphia there are thousands of people waiting for treatment so when one of us leaves the field, even more clients go without the care they need.

While we provide support and care for others, there's often a lack of adequate support for us. We need a space to get a break from the weight of our work unwind and rejuvenate

These therapists are the unsung heroes of our communities and deserving of adequate support. 


Many therapists live in the communities they serve and a majority are women and people of color. Providing care to these worthy professionals will help to address this serious gap in resources so equitable quality treatment is available to all.

Partnerships and Collaborations

We're partnering with businesses, wellness experts, and community organizations to enhance our services and reach a wider audience. 


These partnerships allow us to provide a wider range of services and reach more mental health professionals

We will offer corporate packages and individual user memberships to get the care we offer to those who need it most. 

An organization would hire us to address staff retention, personal wellbeing and overall job satisfaction by offering The Hermitage at Home services as an employee benefit- beyond the standard employee assistance programs. 


We'll be offering services that our clients might not be able to afford to access. 


Most important of all is the impact The Hermitage Philadelphia will make in communities across the city.  


Caring for and supporting one therapist in their work, means that the 40 clients they see will receive more effective and consistent care. When those 40 clients experience healing and increased well being through high quality treatment, the impact of this will naturally create further healing amidst their families, friends and communities. Multiply this by the hundreds of therapists we can care for at The Hermitage and the impact is exponential. 


A solid support system creates a solid foundation for healing and growth for all who are connected.

We are creating a sanctuary for Community Mental Health professionals, offering a variety of wellness services in a serene, non-clinical environment. The Hermitage Philadelphia will be a haven for rest, rejuvenation, and resilience-building, providing a much-needed retreat for those who dedicate their lives to supporting others.

Primary Objective

To establish a non-profit retreat center offering wellness services to Community Mental Health professionals. 


Value Proposition

  • Community Mental Health professionals seeking a peaceful retreat to rest, rejuvenate, and build resilience. This includes therapists, counselors, social workers, psychiatrists, and other professionals working in community mental health settings.


Audience Engagement

On-site wellness services: Offering a variety of wellness services, including yoga, massage, and therapy. These services will be provided by experienced professionals and tailored to the unique needs of mental health professionals. 


Wellness workshops and retreats: Organizing workshops and retreats focused on self-care, resilience, and wellness. These events will provide opportunities for learning, connection, and rejuvenation. 


Online platform: Providing resources, booking services, and a community forum for mental health professionals. The platform will offer articles, webinars, and other resources on self-care and wellness, as well as a space for community members to connect and support each other. 


Social media and email newsletters: Sharing wellness tips, event announcements, and community stories. These channels will also be used to raise awareness about the importance of self-care for mental health professionals and advocate for their well-being.

Donations: As a non-profit organization, we will rely heavily on donations from individuals, corporations, and grants. We will also organize fundraising events and campaigns to support our operations. 


Wellness services: Revenue from the wellness services offered at the retreat, such as yoga classes, massages, and therapy sessions. These services will be priced affordably to ensure accessibility, with discounts available for members. 


Workshops and retreats: Income from organizing wellness workshops and retreats. These events will be priced separately from the regular wellness services, and members will receive discounts. 


Membership fees: Offering a membership program that provides benefits such as priority booking, discounted rates, and exclusive events. Membership fees will be priced affordably and will provide a steady stream of income to support our operations. 


Hermitage At Home Services: Revenue from providing at-home wellness services. These services will be priced based on the type and duration of the service, with additional charges for travel.

  3. Strengthen partnerships: We will establish partnerships with mental health organizations and wellness brands. We will also start our fundraising efforts.



Phase 1: Secure a location for our retreat center and launch our online platform. Start providing wellness services and engaging with our community. 

Phase 2: Start organizing wellness workshops and retreats. Launch our Hermitage At Home service and start accepting memberships. 

Phase 3: Establish partnerships with mental health organizations and wellness brands. Start our fundraising efforts.


Performance Metrics:

  • Number of mental health professionals served: We aim to serve at least 100 mental health professionals in the first 6 months. 

  • Feedback from community members: We aim to achieve an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 in feedback surveys. 

  • Number of wellness services provided: We aim to provide at least 200 wellness services in the first 6 months. 

  • Revenue: We aim to raise at least $75k in revenue in the first 6 months. 

  • Number of partnerships: We aim to establish partnerships with at least 5 mental health organizations and wellness brands in the first 6 months.
